my friend gave it to me...... it goes ok, but uses oil...... heaps.
Haven't started it yet. Thought i'd use sump oil to keep it going..... in current economic conditions,
(I'm broke) my dad lived through the depression, they fixed things and learned how to make things work and stretch resources....... his mate bought a car for 5 pounds.... got it going...
I think it could be over the horizon for us.....now or in the future......
Enough ramblings......................
Not sure what mower brand but it has logo embossed on base.
it's big..

Hi Speedy,

It's a MTD Yardman mower ,most of my MTD mowers go straight to the scrap yard , the discharge port is usually restricted with MTD mowers ,they work ok cutting short grass but get clogged when cutting long grass.

Cheers
Max.

I just want to get it going and lend it to friends..............
I'ts always a good idea to take top off and check coil gap, and rust....
Anyway check the dust in the starter thing...
Reset coil gap.... cleaned fuel tank, and carb bowl, bit of dirt.......
Sharpened blades.
Mowed half the backyard, but the springs on carb are out of wack......
that's next job.... but it has plenty of power and a little smoke....

Why?!! That's the best way to wreck it. They must be good friends.

Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!

Yer MF, sometimes up here the grass grows..... fast and few invalid or single mums need a hand......... but not with this beast......

Hey Max, what is this circular cavity for..? I was using flame gun on boss and the thing was full of grass that started burning......
I'm keeping the boss and blade, scrapping the rest. Keep the throttle control lever, it's a classic.....

I've never had a MTD mower with that centre part Speedy, the yardman mowers are better than some other MTD mowers , the centre part .just fills the centre void under the base so there is better air flow from the bar blade.

If I get a MTD Yardman that works ok , it's worth keeping if the bar blade is good ,I still have a MTD Yardman side throw that works well but other MTD mowers are useless for cutting long grass.

You can fix the bad MTD mowers if you open up the discharge port but not much air flow from a worn out bar blade so if the blade needs changing probably cheaper to buy another mower ,,the Yardman is a better design than the cheaper MTD mowers.

Cheers
Max.
