G'day,I'm new to the forums so be gentle!!! The father in-law asked me to try and fix an old McCulloch line trimmer but I can't find the model number anywhere. There are some numbers on the engine, carby cover that I assume are part numbers. 17cc P/T 10022 1260-21110 1260-12110 1260-84110 Carby WALBRO WA 102 (but it doesn't look like the illustrated parts list that I found on the web for WA-102-1. Mine doesn't have a primer bulb) There was also E1 stamped elsewhere on the housing. Yellow starter and clutch housing.
Hopefully someone can identify the model so I can source some spare parts and the manual. - throttle lever assembly - in tank fuel filter and hose - and judging from the crud in the fuel tank and fuel hose, a gasket and diaphram repair kit.
I realise it's probably not worth the time or money but it's always good to keep in the good books with your father in-law!!!

Graham,
Can you post a picture of the trimmer as I think it is a Mac 17 and if I am correct most parts are available.

Bruce

Bruce, Thanks for the info, it's cetainly a step in the right direction. I definitely need a throttle control lever body/housing and in-tank fuel filter (unless I can clean the existing one somehow). I assume I can use any fuel hose of the right dimensions. If I dismantle the carby and clean it should I replace the gaskets and diaphrams? Or can I re-use the existing ones at a pinch?
Hi Graham, and a big warm welcome to the forum. I bought a Mac 17 in the late 80's, it was a great little light weight trimmer; very reliable, until I (stupidly) lent it to my brother-in-law who used the wrong fuel/oil mix and ruined the engine Best of luck with the parts and I hope she's running sweetly for you soon!!

Darryl, Thanks for the welcome. Speaking of fuel/oil mixes, I read elsewhere in this forum that it is 40:1 for the Mac17. Is that right or can you use 25:1? Graham
Bruce, Noticed the Mac 17 parts in the online shop. Will be ordering what I need shortly. Thanks for that. I have a question about the fuel lines. Do you need to use a special hose for inside the fuel tank and attached to the filter (labeled 94 PIPE,suction on the parts list you uploaded)? The exisitng one is perished and if I can substitute something else, then I will. Thanks Graham
We have the fuel line as well but it is not listed in the store. Once you place an order just request the fuel line and I will arrange that be included with you order free of charge.

Bruce

Bruce, I have cleaned her up and serviced the carby and she started first pull!!! Fuel inlet screen was really gummed up and metering lever was way out but I might have done that when I reassembled it. Just have to adjust the high and low speed needles (I didn't think the neighbours would appreciate me doing that at 9pm!!!). It has a plastic cutting disc fitted but I wouldn't mind putting a string head on it. Is there a replacement part I can use? Thanks for your help and advice Graham
