So far the rover has new tyres with the rears being slightly wider, I also added a bit of white lettering to the sidewalls.
Paint on the frame and deck isn't going to be a showroom shine as I'm going to use this mower often. I've gone for a metal hammered finish as close to the original blue that I could get. The engine with be white with maybe some red on the pull start cover.
I have most of the decals except I need two more for the engine and the big one that is on the handle, Speaking of handle I might add some leather grip to it using grip tape that you use for bicycle handlebars.
I am also looking for a air filter as it didn't have one when I bought it and I'm also trying to find new wheels for the deck as the original ones are rover brand.
I have added a couple of photos (Limited to 2 photos) and I'll update you on the progress.
That thing looks sharp in the fresh paint. I can't recall that brand of aerosol paint at Bunnings but have probably seen it. Looks right for 1970s Rover bases.
Is that a Dolmar based Makita line trimmer I see?
Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!
Sorry but it's a Aldi brand 4 stroke trimmer I got it because I don't have a lot of trimming to be done. Most of my back yard is done with the ride on and the front I just use a Yard King self propelled mower.
Here's a further update on the progress of the Ranger, so the engine has been refreshed with a new carby new coil and some new paint. I have had trouble trying to source another filter box for the engine and the only only I found so far was a used one from the U.S and was going to cost about $80.
So instead I added a little pod filter which attaches by running some 3/16 thread bar through the top of the filter and secured using washers and a wing nut. I also change the type of exhaust that was on it the new one threads instead of being secured with bolts.
I have fired up the engine and tuned the carby after watching the how to video 2 or 3 times. and it runs well. The governor was a bit stuck from years of junk and dirt building up but works fine now it's clean.
I've added some black leather grip to the handle and I have few ideas for what I want to do for the decal panel that was attached to the handle.
The gear lever on the side had been broken and replaced with some thread bar so I have changed that and made the handle a bit more ergonomic for me. I also added the same leather as before to the lever.
Next is to replace the foam and leather that was on the seat as it was torn and had bits missing, I'm also going to add new letter and number decals to the gear selector and deck height lever areas as well.
