Hi Folks,

Just curious which organisation/website would folks recommend to get quotes from for the pickup, transport and delivery of a mower? Could be anything from your normal large walk behind to a 26" walk behind slasher.

The normal places I check seem to always state they won't take anything that have had oil or petrol in them, even if drained.

Am wanting to get a 26" Deutscher walk behind but they're hard to get (don't think I can swallow paying nearly $6k for a new one) but decent 2nd hand buys seem to come up regularly enough BUT they're always too far away to pickup.

Would welcome any recommendations & the type of transport service to use (i.e get strapped to a cheap timber pallet etc).

Much thanks in advance :-)

Can't help you sorry, but I'm up to the teeth with how anally retentive this country has become. It's always no we can't because....

Rules by the truckload while anything remotely unconventional and not bland and pedestrian enough is received with suspicion and a look of indignation.

Australia used to be a much more vibrant and positive place and most importantly, free in the 70s.

Nowadays it's an isolated stultifying backwater of a joint!

Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!

Hi N1KK0 and Mf

I've had Northline pickup old V8 motors on a pallet /skid ,so I can't see why they wouldn't pick up a mower,
no idea on price though for a mower. You just tie the item to the pallet and use glad wrap to protect it..

This past year all the couriers have been useless picking up parcels here except Northline ,TNT and Fastway all the
others got cancelled after weeks of not picking up.

It is funny Mf ,some couriers won't take car parts and when I had door trims to ship they said no because they are car parts so
you just box them up and say they are Masonite sheet and Vinyl and then they say no problem.

If they won't take a mower I guess you could box the mower and call it a garden display piece. smile

Cheers
Max.

Cheers for the replies and advice. Is alas a tricky area - though yes it shouldn't be all that hard. Is just a bugger when you see a cracker of a mower and even allowing a generous amount for freight, can't find a reasonable solution.

Not to worry I check pretty much every other day and am hopeful something will come along a tad closer before my legs give out pushing the utility around my tricky and sloping acre. My gawd the kikuyu is out of control something horrendous this year, seems to grow before your eyes!

Yes I know what you mean N1KK0 by a tricky and sloping acre, same as my back yard here ,I tried ride on mowers, push
mowers ,self drive mowers and the best was a 125cc motor bike with a tow mower ,people sometimes see my mower
and say that doesn't work towing a mower backwards to cut grass not realizing that I've put the front wheels to the back
and the back wheels and handle to the front and for all the people who say bar blades don't cut well on a push mower,
this one works a lot better than swing back blades ,I just cut the grass yesterday and the grass was waist high in some places,
the mower zooms along easily. I was given a few Chinese motor bikes and thought I better use the parts for something, all up cost
of $20.to get it all working ,can't complain.

Cheers
Max.
