Hi all,

I've got a 1965 Rover Ranger. I am currently struggling with the positive friction drive transmission. I know it has worked in the last two years but currently it has seized and I'm unsure of how to fix it. The spring operates perfectly fine its just the rubber wheel connecting to the engine and that shift mechanism that's the issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

G'day Ranger22,

here's a pic I posted a while back of one sitting on a shed at a mower place. It's still there.

Can't help you any further than that I'm afraid.

Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!

Hi

Depends on what the problem is, they are a simple system. I am not 100% on the early ones but all the later ones are the same, should be a disk on the engine pulley, it is a clutch lining material, and an alloy wheel that moves across it, driving. Usually the clutch lining wears out.

if it is just the driven wheel is seized on the shaft you will need to buff the rust off, use some spray (lanolin, wd 40 etc.) and get it moving, anything further pictures will help a lot
