I've been thinking It would be good to have a clear transparent Victa Primer Cap for troubleshooting purpose and not necessarily for permanent used. Seeing the internal of the float chamber while the engine is running is really interesting and exciting. Right? Just yesterday I just especial ordered 50pcs of these clear transparent primer caps for a trial. Hopefully the manufacturer would able to source for a transparent plastic pellets for molding suitable for petrol and oil. The manufacturer also agreed to manufacture the Victa float that I previously prototype to pull the metal needle when the float drops.
P.S. I urgently needs 1pc used 4-rings jet for Pro 550 as a sample copy to manufacture if anyone has spare to donate. I give 2pcs newly manufactured back to the donor when products are available. Thanks.
Hi CM, Brilliant ideas there always a big help if you can see what is going on in those carbs. I haven't had any issues with the needles sticking/leaking since I started polishing the seat. I was getting about 50% of the new needles and primer caps with the needle holding up in the seat before I fitted them and always hoped the weight of the fuel above would be enough to release it. Some would release, some wouldn't and some would not reseat .Since I I started polishing the seats I have not had one fail. Not sure if I have a 4 ring jet but I will have a look today. I have a mountain of snorkels in the back shed with carbies still on them.
Hi Norm and CM, Put me down for at least one of these transparent caps. I ended up pretty happy with those original CM primer caps. Only bought 2 and both have been great. Probably won't stay transparent will darken over time. I have found the transparent silicone fuel line good. It's just so reassuring to see the bubbles move then stop when you turn on the fuel. I know for sure that I am in for a one pull start.
Funnily there were some aftermarket primer caps that I could see through a bit. They were no good and I ended up returning them to the supplier. Mower would not rev properly and I could see the fuel level dropping in the bowl. The needle was stuck partially closed I suppose.
I agree with you that polishing the seat will likely fix the needle sticking but I can't tell every single customer to polish the seat. Hopefully we will have an improvement on the new batch I ordered or when we get the float lever manufactured. How's you go with the 4-rings jet. Any luck? Anyway If you have or anyone have used one, I will but it for $15 plus shipping. Anyway this is my email to the manufacturer below.
Hi ######,
How are you today? I knew you are very busy. But anyway, I just would like to suggest a possible improvement on the Victa Primer Cap seat if you haven't manufacture them yet. Please see attached photo for illustration of what I thought that possibly happened to the seat when pressed chamfered which could create a choke point that may catch the needle to stick. Please verify this with your microscope instrument to see what happen on the chamfered section. Please provide solution prior to manufacture if not too difficult to implement. Thanks for your continuous support, trust and understanding. Wish you all the best.
