Hi.. I have a HBC25SJSN trimmer that needs a filter.. these are smaller than those that are readily available, measuring 60 x 40 mm and around 17mm deep. My Ryobi RLT26CDSN takes the same filter.
I cannot source these filters anywhere !

Hi,
why not make one yourself? That type of foam is pretty easily found (I used to get it all the time from the packing material in IT component boxes, worth checking at your local PC store - am syure they'd give you a heap for a few dollars) - you'd just have to cut a strip of the right width and then staple a few times when you have the loop the correct length. Just an idea. :-)

PS. Or you can buy from here: https://www.uniflow.com.au/contents/en-us/p6025_Foam-Sheet-9mm---3_8'-Thick.html

Appears about $9 postage - one sheet should make lifetime supply of filters plus can use for other machines you might have.

Seeing how Bunnings are the resellers for Ryobi have you given them a try.

You can get through Bunnings special order https://www.bunnings.com.au/powerfit-26cc-air-filter_p0203787

But I agree with N1KKO - it is a complete rip off.

My suggestion is to run down to clark rubber and buy an off cut of foam for a few dollars. I buy 2 types - about 1/2 inch and 1 inch thick. then cut to size. Last time a just went and bought a 1x1m sheet of each and still got change out of $30 from memory. Have still got foams from 2017 still in service and not degraded at all

Please ensure you oil it.

I see TTI is getting to a big of pain as they are here. Last year I had to order a complete air box just to get a filter.

Hi folks,

+1 to N1KK0 here.

The grey/black PolyUrethane [PU] open cell foam used as packing for IT parts is perfect for cutting air filter elements from.

Test it with a dip in petrol, to check that it's the right type of foam - PU will be unaffected by this treatment.

Cheers,
Gadge

Thanks guys.. Ill chase up some foam and make my own... Its not that $12 (the Powerfit one) is a lot of money, but its the principal ! Like everything nowadays, Items are purchased from China for a pittance and resold for insane prices..
another idea is to replace the filter box with a later type !

G'day weed wacker aficionados,
twice I've found the old element disintegrated in my fingers when I changed it. Lucky it didn't happen in service. I levee mine in too long.

Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!

Having done the conversion between the type of housing on your homelite and the other type, it is not difficult but not straightforward - mainly because the latter has a throttle cable mount on the back AF housing, whereas the one you currently have has a metal mount on the top of the carby.

So to do the swap, you have to cut or grind the mount off the filter housing and undo the metal mount and rotate it. I think I had to grind a bit off the metal mount to clear the housing when torqued down.

I did this on a RLT26CDSN, but should be the same
