Hello,

In the back of my mind for some time I have always wondered about some type of alternative for the rubber grip on the height adjusting rod which as we know is just another perishable part on the old Victa 18s along with wheels, chokes, etc, etc. Well, the other night I came up with the idea of using rubber grommets, I used 3 grommets which give the grip roughly the same physical size as the original and it doesn't look too shabby either. The grommet size is 5/16"id x 9/16"od and is about 10mm thick, cross-section of the grommet is square and not the oval shape which is most common. They are a very good tight fit on the rod and when the 3 grommets are all together they will not shift with use, I did put a bit of thin CA glue on for good measure though. Just an idea that I'm happy with and wanted to share in case someone else is having the same issues.

Cheers, Steve.
