Hi all, first post.... so be nice ;-).

Just got my first Rover Walkbehind, not sure about the model but the plate says. 4190 0891038 (from what I can read).

Something is not quite correct with the belt, it scraps on the engine. The jockey belt guide, the one in the middle between the engine and the big pully that drives the blades, is propped up with bolts. It does not seem to push the belt out correctly.

I also question the pully assembly that drives the blades.... it looks like it is raised.

I have no idea how it all should look like as I am completely new to this type of mower. Attached some pictures that might help, can someone pls comment if this setup looks like it should be like that and if not, what should be fixed.

Thanks in advance, merry xmass to all.

Hi there and welcome!

The Primary reason you are having trouble there is someone has Replaced the original Briggs and Stratton with a later Honda GX engine. The original Briggs is an upright engine and would not have stuck out so far toward the front.

I have seen a few of these with Honda's, though I have never paid much attention to how they were put on. I would reckon to make it work properly will require some modifications to the keeper to hold the belt away from the engine

Thanks... that makes sense...

I'll make a bracket for it, I was not sure if the engine was original or not. The engine is also mounted on an angle to avoid touching, not quite successful.

Thanks for your answer, most appreciated.

Ok easy fix...

I saw some pictures where the belt that drives the blades was crossed over. I did the same with mine and put the Jockey wheel back in the original position. All works fantastic now.

Still, the belt and pulley (on the blades) get very very hot, I cannot touch it so hot. Could that be caused by the belt slipping? Although the blade is turning and all seems to operate fine.

Is it normal for a belt/pulley to get so hot that you can't touch it?

Thanks in advance.
H.
