Might be a simple question, but had to clean the pulsa jet carby and flush the fuel tank that had been sitting for years. The gasket between the two was stuck on to the tank so tore and I'm replacing it. What should I use to stick it on? There seems to be a lot of options. Should I put some on the carby side as well? Thanks.
Hi Mich, here's hoping. I saw that at Supercheap. I'm still waiting on the gasket in the mail so will be keen to know how you go with it. Of course, the cost of the sealant is more than the gasket..haha..been trying to find a cheaper alternative as this is the only one I'm replacing. Cheers.
Hi Norm, to be honest I assumed it had on previously because the old gasket was stuck so firmly to the tank, even to the edges, but maybe it doesn't. I haven't been able to find a definitive answer on the net.
I generally try and not use sealant, unless I have a problem getting it to seal, they are prone to having the alloy warp a bit. I had one recently that even after facing the underside of the carb still leaked fuel and ended up using some goo, that finally sorted it
Thanks for the replies everyone, really helpful as I'm learning as I go. It may have been that it was the original gasket and had been on there for 30 years so had just become stuck over time. I'll try it without anything on it and see how it goes. Cheers.
