I had to do a double take when I saw this going for $4.77. There were 200ml containers going for over $6.00. While I was intending to hold out for the Aldi special buy fully synthetic two stroke they have had a few times for $13.00 and has had good results of smoke free running on my Victas, I couldn't pass this up.

Nor could I resist it MF - I bought a bottle as well a few weeks ago - mentioned it somewhere. Its mainly for just in case - If I desperately have to mix up 20L of 2 stroke to run the little GMC 2 stroke generator to stop the fridges going hot, I would use this.

They also have 4T 1L for $4 if you can find it. $20 for 5l of SAE30 is pretty good as far as dedicated mower oil goes. This is the stupidest thing I have found on SCA clearance - of course it is hardly a bargain haha https://www.supercheapauto.com.au/p/mars-mars-m-and-ms---49g/351699.html

But I have absolutely had it with SCA - I ordered a pressure washer off their Ebay site (just a cheap blackridge for under $99). Hear nothing, send them a message.

Sorry, no stock, you will get your refund shortly. 5 days later it came. In the meanwhile, this one came up on their site so I ordered that.

I figure the main complaints with pressure washers are the engines not running after storage (chonda so no wonder) or the pump goes out (left with water in). So I ordered for about $120 delievered https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Stanley-Petrol-Pressure-Washer-5-5HP-2500-PSI/201663142297?epid=1429825574&hash=item2ef40f5999:g:JdUAAOSwytxfRJV9

5 days and nothing - sent a message stating I want a damn washer not a refund - put me on backorder if you have to. Wouldn't even do that. Refund took 5 days, came yesterday

Their rating has gone from 97ish to 93.9 in a couple of weeks - needless to say they have annoyed many people

I'm getting jack of the young mainly female staff who don't want to help you and rather horse around with each other instead of do what they're paid to. Just like young gIrl staff paid to bludge and socialise with each other at Bunnings and appear to do little actual work leaving older established staff to do the lifting. I now seek those people out as I KNOW I'll likely get nowhere with unpleasant sour resentful treatment from the little princesses in Bunnings costumes! How dare you approach me you pervert!

Right, now that that's of my chest, I do intend to buy the next Aldi special buys oil. I'm half way though, so I hope they get some in for this summer.

Re aldi special buys - bunnings put their homelite down to $99 from $109 - so it must be soon

I didn't go too badly the other month at SCA. I ordered a piece of fuel hose (amongst other parts) click and collect. Got home, found it was powersteering hose. Rang, and she told me 'don't worry, its the same thing.' I said bull, the internal diameter might be ok but external is much thicker.

So I trudged 30 minutes back, jam packed with people, I got the right fuel line, picked up a bottle of coolant concentrate and something else (must have been ATF but can't remember)

Girl was very blunt and p*ssed off when I told her that it was in fact not interchangeable and your manager agrees with me. She deliberately stuffed me around 'trying' to process the refund. Eventually she said 'Fine done' I picked everything up and drove home.

Got home and went, 'S*it, she didn't give me my receipt for the coolant or ATF'.

Then I couldn't actually remember her processing it. She was that intent on annoying me and keeping me waiting, she didn't charge me.

Fair remuneration for a total of 1.5hr of my time.

They hate being contradicted aye? But you can't avoid these hormonal creatures even in male oriented retail like car parts, trade and hardware these days can you!!
Finding an experienced knowledgeable bloke in these places is getting more elusive.

Nice score from her spiteful behaviour!

Or even a knowledgeable older lady - and they do exist, in the motor parts game, down this way at least.

You lot have just made me realise, why my 20yo niece's camping gear retailer part time employer jumped at bringing her on board.

'Cos she really does know camping gear and its practicalities, from her training in the Scouting Australia organisation.

Some of them are alright - its just often the exception to the rule.

In bunnings, there was a 25ish yo girl explaining to a 21ish year old boy (also employee) chainsaw and mower features, why customers need both bar oil and 2 stroke, how they need to adjust the chain regularly, and the difference between easy tensioner and regular, mower oil, readystart vs rapidstart.

And she was spot on - I actually congratulated her when I went past a short while later.

But then you get the ones who have no idea what they are doing/halfway care what you want.

In repco 2 months ago, old guy standing there and sour-faced woman looking up spark plug, I could tell from a metre away it was a cj6y. Went up and politely inquired what it was out of, stating I work on this sort of equipment. Mac chainsaw. Torch plug. I said go with a champion CJ6y.

Girl says 'well you are wrong, my book says J8C.' I said I am positive its a cj6y or 7y (explaining slight heat range dif). All she said was its a J8C. I retorted that a J8C has a 15/16 inch hex , taller, non protruding tip won't fit in the saw (height wise to clear air filter, threads fine).

She went out and got the J8C and 'oh, its too big'. I said look up CJ6y.

"Unfortunately we don't have one in stock, seeing as how you know so much about these, what is the NGK number?"

I deadpanned BPM7a. Nothing. Try BPMR7a.

And it was identical - the man thanked me but I never heard anything from her

And Gadge - she will go a long way because she knows and likes what she is doing.

If there were more like her, we would have a much better retail environment.

I know. There are plenty of the fairer gender who are a breath of fresh air but the typical experience is what I'm talking of and that is a devil may care "why should I be expected to know that" belief system.
That is what needs to be addressed if we blokes want to take them as truly equal. I had a young sub 26 yo male staff member at Bunnings who had no idea what I was talking about when I wanted that black foam pipe insulation (an older gent later pointed it out to me immediately), but he took a few seconds of his time to try and figure out where I could find such an item. A female of the same age group would likely not try at all.

Why can't we have more men like this at hardware shops these days?

And this is the future of the world for all to see on show.

Sadly the world is populated with idiots with absolutely no idea, but only with an internet device in their hands to gather information from when they require it. No brain required it seems.

Everyone wants to be paid a fortune and do nothing in return. This is the reason why the world's in the trouble that it's in.

They say children are our future, well the futures looking pretty grim to me.

Really smart girl, too. Nearly finished with a Psychology Honours degree at Deakin Uni.

MF I have had the same problem. Trying to find pipe lagging is a PITA. It always tends to be up out of sight unless you are 6ft 8in.

What I do now is go on the website before I leave and write down Item numbers I need. Or, they are now rolling out on the website which aisles things are in at each store - not at all stores yet though. Eg K-Flex 9 x 13mm x 1m Elastomeric Pipe Insulation is in Aisle 50 in Belmont Wa store, or 48 in Bayswater WA.

Well, I reckon that she already is.
And I've sicced her on to a situation/individual in our family, that really does need sorting urgently. I'm betting on her FTW, too.

Probably a wise bet

Have been to 5 different bunnings store a total of 6 times over the last 2 days (yes I have a problem).

I ended up helping 2 older guys with ozito and ryobi batteries because the 2 girls there just wanted to talk to each other and not work. The Ryobi rep (who was standing behind me for about 3 minutes) was not impressed with them when he walked in and I knew more about the products than bunnings staff. I ended up selling $650 of stuff - should have got a commission I thought.

My 'commission/reward' ended up being finding a clearance trolley with open pack $3 rover round air filters, $2 oregon chainsaw chains, $6 camlock sets, and $10 full chainsaw sharpening kits.

Then I go to another one and there are 2 very nice and knowledgeable girls in the tool department. Both also going to uni (I see a trend here). Talked for about 5 minutes about the Irwin and Wera tools they were unpacking (was quiet at 7pm). Very switched on and knew more than I did.

Go today to another store - 2 are talking and I ended up (after waiting 30 seconds) dropping the angle grinder spanner (needed for single lever tap, long story) on the table. They had no idea I was there.

Tyler can you please stop this or are you doing it just to tease us poor Victorians. I just want to be able to make a trip to any Bunnings store and grab the list of items that I need to finish all the little projects that are stalled for the want of some silicone, screws, timber, paint etc. We are going stir crazy here and you want to gloat about going to 5 different Bunnings. LOL

Melbournites Norm, not Victorians...

Mind you, I'm avoiding going in to any of the local Bunnings if at all possible; my mobility isn't the best just now.

Luckily my local IGA has an instore 'mini Mitre 10' section, that can supply the smaller hardware bits & pieces I need. Good pricing too.

Organising the 'stuff' involved in becoming self-employed is keeping me busy, too. Got my ABN last Fri, and it's been full on since then.
Doing the first 'tax deduction' petrol fill on the Benz did feel good!

Hi Norm

Not my intention at all. Although I do see your point. I will shut up. I didn't go to bunnings for a couple of months when all this started and know what you mean (although not quite the same depth.

In the end, we will probably have an outbreak over here in WA and you guys will be out - and the situation will be reversed.

Hope you can get out soon

If its any consolation, I sliced my hand open using the tool I bought the last trip to bunnings and whilst running to get some paper towel I tripped over a carpet mat and smacked my shoulder into the door handle on the way down.

Restrictions ? what restrictions, that's Adelaide for you.

The only problem is everyone is on the dole here and there's nowhere that one has to go to in the first place.

B_B is it true you have to beat the girls off with a stick when you're in Adelaide? That's certainly not the case here in NSW!!

Might be like, I'm reliably informed, what is the case in some high unemployment areas in the US.
If you're on the lookout to pick up a woman, just wear a logo'ed company work shirt to one of the local bars!

They reckon you can see their minds working; 'hmmm, he's on a company payroll'...
