Hello
ODK history lovers,
Precision Mowers Pty. Ltd. of 977 Mt. Alexander Road, Essendon,
Melbourne, were “Manufacturers and Distributors” of both reel and
rotary mowers in the 1950s.
Their most successful machine was the petrol-powered Precision
14” reel lawnmower.
I have written about these mowers on
ODK [see related Reading].
But Precision also made a rotary lawnmower – the
Rotamow – from about
1956.
This was a shallow-skirted alloy-based mower powered by the same
British Trojan 2-stroke used on their popular powered reel mowers.
There may have been two sizes …
Little information survives as I write. Scant Information suggests they were
made in two sizes: the 15” powered by the
Trojan; the 18” powered by the
Australian
Hurricane 2-stroke.
