Check this out Monaro with a difference. It could be used on a float at the next mardi "grass" parade. bigshock

G'day Mowerfreak and speedy.

Ah..., yes .... The Victa Mardi Grass. Very good.
Great job on the colour.
Brought a smile to my dial, but I don't LOL.

Barbie & Ken have done a great job there ... HERE.

Cheers

Hi CyberJack,
thanks for loading up the pics for all to see.
Well worth it. I imagine it would look pretty ugly with paint coming off from using it. Much better as a static exhibit I think.

Thanks for the link to the Beach Boys re-imagining of the Barbie Girl song.

Here's a less pleasant barbie video.

It was a propeller aircraft.

Yes you are correct Mf , the low resolution image I saw it looked like a jet but was a rear prop.

Denver had been flying for more than 20 years and owned a Lear Jet in addition to the Long- EZ. He also had a two-seater, high- performance Christen Eagle that was in the hangar at the Monterey airport.

I thought it was a Cessna! At least I recalled the propulsion method but the wrong end!

Here's a tribute to the great man.

Yep; AFAIK Cessna never built a 'pusher only' configuration piston engined kite.

They did however build the 'pushme-pullyou' 337 twin, with front and rear engines; also known in military trim as the 'O-2 Skymaster'...

That's interesting Gadge. Did the front/rear 337 have Lycoming horizontally opposed four engines?

Nope; a pair of Continental IO-360 fuel injected 360ci flat sixes, with McCauley constant-speed props.
[BTW, I've seen a crankcase set of a Lyc O-720 flat 8 in the metal; crikey, what a monster!]

The O-2 had armament mounting hardpoints, too;

Armament
Guns: SUU-11/A Minigun Pod
Hardpoints: Four MAU-3A bomb racks
Rockets: LAU-59/A Rocket Launcher, MA-2/A Rocket Launcher
Bombs: SUU-14/A Bomblet Dispenser

Cheers,
Gadge

The Lycoming flat four used in the Cessna is a bigger displacement than the V8 in my Fairlane!!
The Bell 47 helicopters like the one used in Skippy uses a six cylinder version mounted standing up.

No; 'read my lips' - they're Continental flat sixes.

Tho' Textron Lycoming do make a 320ci flat 4-cyl; my old Uni mentor had a 'zero time level' complete overhaul done locally [Rudy's Aero Engines, West Sale] on one of those, for his Cessna 177, a couple of years back.

Out-of-pocket cost $16k; and that was with a $1k credit for 'donkey cleaning work' Ray performed, post bead blasting of the crankcases...

Cheers,
Gadge

I have read somewhere that Lycoming made the wardrobe mount flat sixes for the Bell bubble choppers as well.

G'day Mowerfreak,
Yeah, but there is a catch....

Notice how the drummer is hidden behind the guitarist. Why?
North America - 1960s - toy makers were still telling a lie.
A festering sore that is still being played out there.
It's a difficult video in explaining the maker's intention.

MF, I feel understanding here,.. Barbie was under a lot of pressure.

Wce's comment was a great observation of the times.

Yes, Max, from rocky mountain high to a shallow watery demise.
I like the cheek of a heavy-metal Barbie. Thanks Western Group.

It is meme-like in that the conversation has changed to aircraft.
From pink Monaro to pink jetliner ... perhaps?
