I have just acquired a Scott Bonnar 45 electric motor driven, the ID plate reads Mower No BM 07910, Any help would be appreciated as to its age or date of manufacture, any photos of one that shows what Decals etc they had.
The cover on the motor has a Scott Bonnar 45 decal on it, was wondering if the grass catcher should also have one, I am having a problem to work out how the grass catcher attaches to the mower, probably quite simple but do not see any part that corresponds to the mounts on the catcher.

Regards Beech.

Hello Beech,

That is an electric Bonmow! Also called the Model 19. There is a History Record here for you:

Bonmow

You'll be able to see where the catcher attaches from the photos in that thread too.

I'd say someone popped on a Model 45 Electric cover at some stage. The Electric 19s are not common at all.

A pleasure. Will she be saved from the scrapper?

My word yes, the couple who gave it to me questioned me for quite a while before they agreed I could have it, it belonged to the ladies Grand father and I assured them I would take it back and show them when completed.
They will get a surprise when it will be identified with the correct decal and colour as it has been repainted.

Another question, the mower I have is more green than blue, any ideas when the colour was changed and what the green colour is called??

Hello Beech and Mystyler
I'm glad another Model 19 is saved!
The original colour of the Bonmow was 'irridescent Blue'.

The difficulty here is the lack of good images.
Mystyler has already said the 45 decal is not original, and
you have said the machine has been repainted.

Beech, what evidence is there of the original paint?

I would love to see better quality images, including a close up
of the 45 decal. It presents as a repro decal placed on the
original motor cover.

The Mains-Electric Model 19s have been largely ignored by history.
That is odd; given that SB's first mowers were just that ... electric!

Cheers

Hello Jack,

I have now removed the motor cover and I am questioning my original statement that the mower had been repainted, I don't think now that it has been, I started to straighten out the dents in the grass catcher and the red paint inside peeled of to reveal shiny metal.
The colour under the cover is very similar to the rest of the mower but is not faded, tomorrow I will take some more photos and also a close up of the decal on the cover.
I will contact the couple who gave me the mower and see if I can find out more of its history, when I picked it up I was told that it belonged to the womans Grandfather she may know more about it. Thank you for your interest.

Regards Beech

Hello Beech and Jack,

The only Bonmows I've seen have been in photos, and have had that "blue" tinge to them. I do know that Scott Bonnar paint records are non existent and they changed up their recipes through the years, even on the same models.

Happy to hear it's getting saved. Would love to see it in action.
