Hi all, recently got the bug and started collecting reel mowers in various states of repair. I enjoy the old villiers engine despite coil troubles. So far i have collected

Qualcast Sixteen x 2
Atco 1957
Ransomes minor mk6
Austral Villiers 2m14
Scott & Bonner 45 with the HK25 kirby
Greens master
Austral villiers deluxe with the 3hp Briggs engine

Pretty much got them all going bar the SB which is missing a carb for the kirby tecumseh engine. I have my eyes on a few more including a Qualcast commodore and a Webb wasp (cant find too much info on this model), also a large SB. I enjoy working on them, but will eventually start to sell a few off, to free up some garage space. Thankfully most have intact catchers.

Few snaps

Hello Millzy555
A warm welcome to these great forums from me.
That's an impressive collection!

I guess I have written about many of these beauties, and I hope
ODK can provide good information. A story is to be told
on each machine.

The decal on the Qualcast catcher seems un-recorded.
I would love a better photo of that one.

Please keep us informed as you go.

Yep will do, figured i'd jump on the Australian website rather than the UK one. Seems to be heaps of people interested in them which is good. The catcher has Qualcast Royal deluxe...possibly off a Royal blade deluxe??, i'll get a pic for you.

Would like to know more about the Webb mowers. I think i have a AB1473? with the dual belt drive setup, anyway havent purchased him yet so would like to learn more about it.

Many thanks.
The UK's Old Lawnmower Club is the oldest club and it has a great magazine too.
The focus here are machines sold here - whether locally or imported.
I guess we are complimentary sites.

The Qualcast Royal Deluxe catcher belongs to the Qualcast Sixteen.
For whatever reason, Qualcast changed the name of the Sixteen to
Royal Blade in its final years (mid-1950s). After that, Royal Blade
would be used on later designs.

Webb push reel mowers sold here in volume.
The petrol power machines are not common.

Correct indeed. It fits perfectly on my Qualcast sixteen. In good condition with no dints/ rust so will most likely restore this one. Thanks for those links, the webb im looking at definately is not push powered, will post photos again

Scott Bonnar model 40

Another 45

This is my unknown Scott Bonnar. Has the smaller Villiers engine on it. From searching it could be a 2G Bonmow

Hello Millzy555
I can't say I have seen anyone build a 'collection' so fast! smile

The last machine is a model 19 Bonmow.
The agent's plate is fantastic too.

The 'another 45' is the 20" SB - a great find.

The second image is, in fact, a Rover Thoroughbred 16":

Thanks for the clarification,i had 2 pics muddled up. I think this will keep me busy for a while yet. I figured id buy complete mowers to source parts rather than pay exorbitant prices on ebay. If anyone needs spares im happy to help out. Ill be listing some free to good home mowers shortly

Hi Millzy
Many thanks.
I admire and acknowledge those who give back to other collectors.

You have a good mix of desirable machines there.
It may be you will focus on a theme down the track.

All the best.

Millzy, let me know if you have any plans for the model 40. Im just about to put mine back together but am missing the clutch wheel cover and a catcher. I can fabricate up the cover. But would love some catcher dimentions if you happen to come across one. Good luck with the collection!
