Hi All.

Have a B&S 17.5 hp motor that had a broken Con Rod. So stripped it down, and thought that was all that was wrong, so ordered all new parts I required. So when it was time to reassemble it, I noticed the smallest crack in the sump. Tried to obtain one, but all I can see are used ones in USA. My question, has anyone attempted to weld the cracks up in these sumps?, or are there a second hand place around where I could get a good one from. Or buy another motor?

Have already purchased, piston, rings, conrod and gaskets.

Yes I know Robert, but I'm tipping that most Briggs out there usually throw a rod before they stop using it so the cases will be damaged anyway. You could get the case welded up but may distort slightly if they haven't been distorted already
