Hi,

I have a Homelite Super XL Automatic 2 stroke chainsaw.
UT10045B
I need to know following things

How to adjust the carby Hi - LO settings

Also May require new carby Kit its a Zama

Symptom is when I rev it it struggles to turn the chain.

Chain is not tight, removed chain bar and once revs pick up the clutch engages and i cannot stop it.
When i put the bar back on with the chain it struggles.

I have problems getting it to rev high, made some adjustments and cant quite get there.

Either clutch is seizing / binding and carby bogging down and going rich or just needs a tune or carby kit.

If anyone has a manual would be fantastic

Thanks Guys

dristo72,

1. Have you replaced the fuel filter in the tank?

2. Have you checked the sprocket to see if it has a groove in it?

3. Did you put the chain on correctly?

4. Is the chain brake damaged?

The first two questions are what is most probably causing the problems that you have. cheers2

Hi Bruce,

I will check the filter tonight, but wouldnt a clogged filter run it lean instead of rich?

Dont think the saw has a chain brake does anyone know where itwill be? Usually the hand guard is the brake but its just bolted on to protect the hands and it swings but doesnt lock the bar.

Chain is on correctly but has a slight grove in the sprocket teeth, maybe its slipping on that but doesnt make a noise that its slipping.

Can you let me knwo how to tune the hi and lo part of the carby?

thanks

Hi Calvin,

Checked and clutch is all good, filters are all good.

Great compression, helthy spark, new spark plug, exhaist port and mullfer clean and clear.

I can get the motor to start and rev but whne i load the clutch the engine bogs out. What i found when the manual choke is slightly open the chain woked really well and engine worked normally. if i open or adjusted manual choke either way the engine died especially when loaded. No matter what i do to the high and lo settings it wont work. I suspect dirt in the carby and or gaskets. Now i cannot find a way to remove the whole carby assembly, only the top half. Does anyone have any manuals or tips to remove the carby?

thanks

Hi, I managed to find out what the problem is.
The reed valve seat holds 4 read valves, one of them has snapped and obviously is drawing irregular fuel quantity.
Does anyone have a reed? the homelite part number is 59678B

The read seat that holds the reeds has the option of replacing the reeds. that part# is 63253

Does Bynorm stock these?

Thanks

dristo72,

You can get one from this eBay shop, I've bought from him before without any problems.
