Hi all

Looking at adding a VC 125 to the collection, I can just make out from a picture the model code is V 136 which I believe is an auto drive which this one isn't but there is a hole in the cowling presumably for a cable. It has black bar work and throttle control. Can someone please fill me in on exactly what model it may be.

Regards
wce

G'day wce,
Can't see the picture. Could you add it as an attachment?
The VC-125 was the entry VC model with the same body and deck as the VC 160 but with lower tier features like light green painted handles instead of chrome and the non ball bearing wheels and of course the 125cc engine.
I have no idea what the small port is all about. Maybe the similar VC auto drive cover has replaced the original.

Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!

Another dreamer, I think at that price he thinks this is really sought after, it is in average condition, obviously not running as the pull cord is broken. Way overpriced in my opinion and then it doesn't have the matching catcher

Hi Norm

Yes I have Informed the chap about vintage mowers and there historic value v $ and I can acquire the mower if all checks out, it does have a catcher with a few imperfections. Do you think this model is worth collecting ? I wasn't sure about the colours etc.

Thanks
wce

Hi wce,

that looks to be a bitsa with a VC Auto drive mark II, III or IV light grey cover instead of the original white one.
They've transferred the VC-125 badge over to that cover even though it now appears to have a 160cc motor! Pics are not the best but the spark plug appears to be at the centre of the head instead of being offset to the side as the 125cc of that era had.
The wheels are the nylon sleeve bearing type as they originally had though, suggesting this is an original VC-125 deck.

PS: that price is ludicrous. They aren't that rare yet and it's not original as outlined above.
That mower as is it's not collectable but good for parts to restore other VC variants with.
