Hi New to this but managed a search and couldn't find anything on victajet so here goes
I have a seized victajet outboard motor, 125cc from about 1960s 65?? Prety sure they didn't do it as a 160cc.
Have stripped it down , have manual for parts numbers but don't know if they line up with mower parts numbers , and basically water ha been sitting in the barrel for a long time.
My question is that a elderly friend said that some of the victas had industrial motors on them that had bigger bearings. I have nothing to compare the crank bearing to so I don't know if I need to find a industrial 125cc ( if they existed) or just any old Victa 125cc.? Interesting point as I knew some of the lawnmowers used the cutting plate disc as a balance and flywheel so was also wondering if the crank in a victajet was anything different or special?
Hope this is the right place to post this.
Guess the next question is who has a 125cc motor that has been rebuilt and what should I pay? That'll decide whether I investigate doing this motor up but 40 thou wouldn't do it so I would have to sleeve it and haven't looked at bottom end yet.
Any help or advice would be appreciated. In Sydney lower Northn Shore if that helps

Mick, I have a victa jet in my workshop that I have not done up yet which might be of some help as an example. If you go to our main page you will see a link called contact us showing when we are open and where we are which is not that far from the north shore. The 125cc victa engine is quite a good one and you don't have to re sleeve just have it rebored and replace the piston & rings. I should have all the parts you need in stock. As to the industrial type victa engine I have not heard of that.

Hi Mick and Bruce, I decided to do a bit of research on the Victajet myself as I have not heard of one before. Whilst surfing the net, I notice that on a site called Vintage Mowers forum http://vintagemowers.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=305one of our members; dristo72, has the manufacturers' manuals on 2 models of the jets which may come in handy. Maybe a PM to dristo72 would be in order?

Thanks guys
Bruce I didn't realise you had a shop so will be sure and catch up with you in the near future.
Haven't had a close look at the barrel yet but a skin probably won't do it and conrod has been bent where previous owner removed frozen piston from the bore.
I'll be needing the tin air shroud and muffler as well so I might be better to find a old mower in good nick and just donate the chassis to someoone who wants it. I don't normally like splitting stuff up out of principal if it can be repaired ecconomically.
I have a copy of a victa jet parts list , advertising material and a friend who has a basically brand new used once.
Was going to do this one up showing the young bloke how a 2 stroke works and let him put it together and give it it's first run on a small dinghy as they are safe with no exposed propeller
Glad there is still people interested in the older victas as they rarely wore out and only died through mistreatment with wrong oil and dust in my experience.
Thanks
PS Bruce how oversize can you go with the 125cc to clean it up and was the early 160 just the same barrel bored out? Would numbers off my existing crankcase help determin what year it was an dis there a series guide to g=crankcase numbers somewhere?

Thanks for the help so far Bruce and others.
Will put up a photo when I have it all together.
am still missing a couple of parts like the piece of bent tin that supports the fuel tank in a Mk111 125cc with the zip start plastic cowl and throttle cable etc. Am going to keep it all original.
Will post a list when it is nearly back together and I'm sure you guys will have stuff lying around and it will save me having to scavange from council tip day. Been looking but not any old 125cc getting tossed but plenty of disposable new no name ones are out and cactus
Oh yeah in relation to my industrial motor query I found the answer. The jet doesn't have base plate or heavy blades as a flywheel so instead the flywheel ( fan) at top of motor was modified and has a 3/4 inch steel ring on it's base and it is balanced. Smart buggers and explains why other victa jets with replaced motors don't run smoothly.
Cheers
