Hello
ODK History Lovers
Here I present the Pope Rotary Manual for the Models
320-05 and
320-06. This manual dates to the
1960-61 season. At this time, Pope made cosmetic and engineering changes to its
Model 320 lawnmower. This was the first model to have the more
modern handle [inverted pyramids], new air-cleaner, and Pope
offered its new impulse starter [Model 320-06].
BACKGROUND: -When Pope entered the Lawnmower market in 1949, they offered
brilliant, modern designs for human-propelled reel push mowers.
These were the beautiful
Wimbledons.
Within a short time, they were offering powered reel mowers –
The brilliant electric
Centre Court of 1950, and then the first
petrol-powered reels in 1954.
When Pope entered the rotary lawnmower market in 1957,
they offered an engine of their own manufacture.
This was the great 125cc Rotary Valve 2-stroke.
THE OPERATOR MANUALSGenerally speaking, at this time, Australian lawnmower makers offered
comprehensive instructions. This manual is really two manuals –
one covering the mower; the other the engine.
This topic covers the mower manual, as I have discussed
the engine manual elsewhere [see link below].
This was all packaged in the then typical ‘Pope envelope’, also
containing what we now call a ‘quick-start guide’ and a
‘guarantee certificate’.
