G'day All My first attempt at a posting.

I have a Lawn Patrol I would like to restore. I'm told it goes and there is a pulley on top but it is very low and putting a rope on it would be difficult. Could anyone tell me if there is something missing from the top?
I have read online that there was an electric start version of these produced and it had an adapter of some description for starting with a drill. Any information or opinions would be appreciated.

I will attempt to include photos.

At this stage I don't really know what I am looking for but would like to get it going.

Cheers

Hi Tassie Dan,

That starter top is used for the recoil starter that bolts to the top of the cowl.

Image of recoil starter here https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/74594/Lawn_Patrol.html

The slot looks like you can use a rope for emergencies but it is a little low so would be a little difficult starting.

Image below of the original pulley (rope) start.

Cheers
Max.

Hi Dan,
Drill starting is easy if you have an adapter that will fit in a drill and take a 3/8th or half inch socket

Hi Dan,

Remove the cowl, it will be fine running without the cowl for a bit. Then you can easily use the rope.

Thank you gentlemen for your replies,

I now know I need an original recoil starter gizzmo. I will try to start it after removing the cowl. It would be nice to get hold of a recoil starter so I will be on the lookout for one to do the job properly.

Cheers
Dan
