Was just told VIcta are releasing a electric tipping wheel barrow

The Victa Utility cart costs $600 plus $300 for the battery - makes for a pretty pricey wheelbarrow

I'll wait for the 2 stroke version laugh. Might be in for a bit of a wait

What a joke, $900 for an electric wheelbarrow. You're better off buying a used ride-on with a tow behind trailer.

G'day Tyler and Bigted,

Yes it's a pricey wheelbarrow that's for sure, gees if you are going to spend that much on something you'd want to be using it all the time! Then the battery on these things doesn't last long. Replacements aren't cheap by the looks of it.

This reminds me years ago I wanted to replace the wheel on my old Daytek wheelbarrow, I went into my local Mitre 10 store this was probably around the time that most McEwans hardware stores had closed and Bunnings hadn't opened up a store around here yet, possibly around 1995 maybe? Anyway they wanted something like $60 just for a wheel and tyre for a wheelbarrow! I said are you guys serious? I can just buy a whole new wheelbarrow for that sort of money! I left the wheel at the counter and went home and ended up fitting an old smaller bicycle wheel to the wheelbarrow with some mods where the wheel bolts to and just panel beated the steel tray to make clearance for the bigger wheel! LOL! I still use it for the lawn clippings the bicycle wheel works great!

This also reminds me many years ago when I was younger when the old Qualcast model H push reel mower I have still had it's wooden handle, they were also great for loading up with some heavy planted pots that you wanted to move around the yard. I think if you turned the mower upside down the wheels would roll so you basically had a nice strong trolley you can put something on the steel frame near the lower wooden handle, then you had a nice handy backyard trolley to cart stuff around in...lol This was only done when I had to move something heavy from one part of the yard to the other. Or from the front yard to the backyard. It was still a bit hard on your back having to lift and keep the handle balanced as you rolled it along. But it beats trying to lift and move a really heavy planted pot manually that's for sure.

Cheers!

Converse, I will never forget the time the pot plant (big plastic pot) slipped off my trolley and into the deep end of the pool - absolute nightmare.

Next time we went in to the shop to test the water, the phosphates were through the roof, the guy asked if we had pot plants or trees right next to the pool - I said it was in the pool haha.

Here is a cheaper alternative that cost me only minimal time and effort.

Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!

Hey Tyler! LOL! That's a classic mate! laugh

Hi Mowerfreak, just had a look at that thread good idea with the old Victa deck, if I find some elcheapo mower base one day I might also convert it into one of these backyard trolleys. Luckily these days I don't really move anything around the yard like big pot plants anymore. These days I just sometimes use the old wheelbarrow to move around some soil or mainly the lawn clippings from the catcher. But I really could do with a slightly larger wheelbarrow though. I think it only fits around 3 full catcher loads then I have to empty the wheelbarrow. I might try and take a photo of my wheelbarrow later today with the modified bike wheel fitted! LOL! It doesn't look pretty! laugh

Cheers!

Good Morning ODK Members,

All jokes aside, for someone elderly or with not much muscle it’s a pretty handy thing. A small engine would be a nice alternative to the electric.

G'day everyone,

Speaking of wheelbarrows I took some photo's of my original Daytek Australian made wheelbarrow which was bought new around the mid 80's I reckon. Around the mid 90's the steel centre part of the original wheel had rusted away and crumbled and was no longer usable. The replacement of just the wheel was too much so I just threw an old bicycle wheel on it with some mods. This wheel on it now is the second bicycle wheel I have installed on this around 10 years ago now. It does the job for moving around soil and lawn clippings etc.

It seems this Daytek company has been around for a long time here in Australia and they have a factory down the road from here and they actually still sell new wheelbarrows that are very similar to this one that was purchased over 30 years ago!

I probably should just go and buy a brand new larger wheelbarrow from these guys...lol

Cheers!

Obviously for those that already have everything they need but not enough of what they want...................also way too much cash to give away !

Wow Converse that's a bad barrow you got there!!
Do kids ask for rides?
The dirt gets a comfy ride lol.

That fancy Victa contraption pictured looks like a lot of things to go wrong, but pretty cool none the less.

Hi Mowerfreak,

Yeah it's a classic alright, almost as old at the Victa Commando! LOL!

Well you can imagine when I mow the front nature strip this wheelbarrow goes out the front with the old FC Commando...lol

People must think he must have got that ancient wheelbarrow at the same time he bought that ancient lawnmower! LOL!

Cheers!
