well i have started it 4 times now. it runs really rough. i was playing around with the adjustment screw on the carby. at one point it would start really easy and idle fairly smooth. then it went back to the way it was when i increased throttle. after running for a while it starts to loose it and eventually cuts out. when i start it up you can hear the engine do about 3 revolutions a second (put....put.peput..put) then start up after about 4 seconds. it dosent blow smoke annymore (except the last time i started it it blew out 2 puffs of black smoke)

whats going on???

First check would be the flywheel key to see that is not damaged as it will give you the impression that the timing is out.

Then check the tank pick ups are clean and the diaphragm is not stretched.

Start with the easy stuff first before pulling the crankcase apart. cheers2
