Hi,
I have a PLT3043A 2 cycle line trimmer with a jammed starter cord.
I started to dismantle by easing the four screws that hold the shaft section to the motor block - suddenly the cord rewound normally. Jammed again once screws retightened and attempted to start. The starter mechanism engages with two small spring loaded hinged "catches"? on the housing mounted on the end of the crank shaft. The plastic Gear? on the starter is damaged with several lugs cut by the catches on the housing.
As you can tell from the above description my knowledge of small motors is limited. I would really appreciate some help.
Do the catches act as a sort of clutch to disengage the starter once the engine starts?
Is there a clutch in the housing - if so how can it be checked/changed.
Is it possible to get a copy of a service manual that shows how it all works.
