I have the same problem, looks as though one the springs have broken on mine which did not disengage the plastic gear, thus stripping the cog. Mine had only been used a few times and has been sitting in my shed for the 2 years or so. Disappointed. Impossiable to track down parts. It is more viable to buy a new unit rather than have a service centre fix it.
A few on ebay, really cheap.
