I can't imagine why or what it was stuck, hopefully the bore has not been damaged. As for underneath I scrape them back as much as I can and paint the worst rusty parts with fish oil, in particular the left hand corner around the handle mount and all down the side. Wet grass left in this area is what kills these bases, they rust out big time. 25 to 1 is what they use
