If it is anything like the Briggs coils here you should be able to replace the high tension lead. Here the Briggs lead are just screw in and cemented into place.
Now the fellows on your side of the Big Pond would know more about these Victas than I do since I have never seen one in person but the few coils I have on Ebay are of the type that you can replace the lead.
I learned how to do it here because of the all the mice damage ones I get in.
