I have no problem putting a Chev into a Lada, getting it engineered is what hurts my head
The handling characteristics would be downright scary, though!
Back in the day, I did do a 350 Chev/TH400 auto conversion to a Landcruiser FJ45 trayback. Fun toy, that one - on normal dirt roads without much load aboard, you steered it around corners as much with the throttle as the steering wheel.
A car enthusiast mate once described it as 'deceptively quick'.
It still looked stock, apart from the 'bow tie' Chev badge on the radiator grille...
