I ended up getting something a little different on the weekend.

The engine was pretty easy to get running. With a full service I am sure it will give at least a few more good years of trouble free mowing.

What I am interested in is the self-propelled function. The previous owner said he bought the unit second hand and never actually used the self-propelled function. Otherwise he said it had been a very good mower.

After a quick inspection I was able to ascertain the self-propelled gearbox and cables were still intact with the exception of the drive belt. I havent done a lot of work with self-propelled mowers as they dont come up in the local recycle yards very often.

What I would like to understand is if others would consider it viable to have a go at repairing the self-propelled function or to just use it as a standard push mower. Id obviously have to source a belt which should not be too difficult however I wanted to see if people had any experience with this or similar type models to confirm if it was worthwhile investing some money into the self-propelled function. The mower is in very good condition so moving it onto a new home wont be an issue.

Any thoughts or advice about what to check first before investing money and buying a belt would be appreciated.

Thanks

Jaffa

PS. I have the correct catcher which is in good condition.
