I just purchased the above machine and this weekend was the big test it out run.
I know the limltitions, but for some reason the cutter deck belt went slack. The cutter engaging lever is working but the belt didn't start up.
My first thought was that the deck belt has stretched so I changed it. Again 1/2 lap around the yard smoke billowed from out under the engine, smelling of rubber. Quick crash stop and low and behold the new belt was cooked. As I have purchaed the machine from a friend and he purchased from E-bay there was no manual or instruction book.
Can anyone enlighten me on what I have done wrong and is there better priced deck belts thatn the local dealer is offering.
