Hi there have a stihl 023. Runs ok at high speed but then allow it to slow and when I accelerate again it dies. Starts ok with choke on then dies again. Have cleaned the carby, new fuel and it has plenty of compression but the problem persists. Read somewhere to look in the spark plug hole and check for scratches on the piston and if there is scratches its gone. It does appear to have a few scratches. If this is problem I am thinking it couldn't be too hard to replace the piston. Any other ideas before I pull it apart??
