As mentioned previously I needed some carby parts for this engine. I received the parts from the US (namely, needle, seat and needle attaching clip, bowl 'O' ring seal, bowl nut and bowl nut fibre washer. I fitted the needle and seat and when blowing through fuel line and turning carb upside down to allow float to activate the needle seals fine, but when fitting to engine and running fuel through it floods out through the air box side of the carburettor. However there is a small odd shaped spring that came with the box of parts from the previous owner and it obviously goes over the shaft that holds the float to the carburettor base, which has probably got something to do with the fuel shut off at the needle. Being a bit of a novice I am uncertain as to how this spring fits. Any input would be greatly appreciated. I've had a look at a parts diagram from the US dealers website but it doesn't show much detail.
