I/C engines have cast iron cylinder liners, so it is likely to last a long time, and it will be feasible to hone the cylinder to remove the glazing. However let's discuss that when you get to that part of the process: cheap hones often do more harm than good, and there are better options. Please report what you find when you try the spoonful-of-oil-in-the-cylinder trick.
