Perhaps your mounting position is causing the soilid state switch to work when the flywheel magnet is close to that. The STD mounting position for these is flat against the alloy backing plate (on the outside), well away from the magnet, also it acts as a heat sink drawing the heat away from the module when in operation.

As Bruce says stay away from the start sprays, and it my pay to drip a couple of drops of oil in the cylinder now just to make sure it is lubed when it starts and as he suggests check the cyl you might be up for some parts if you over did the spray.

I feel moving it, providing you have the right one, will see success.
