Plugger, there could be a few issues that are causing this, firstly, there is the fuel tap issue, whitch in itself could be two things, as the float bowl system on a v40 (power torque with LM carby) is designed as a running metering system, rather than a full fuel cut out, so as long as you are turning the tap off after use, try testing the tap by taking the fuel hose off the carby, and letting it rest in a jar over night, with the tap off, if you get more than a couple of mls of fuel your tap may be faulty. let us know how mutch comes out, and we can go from there.
