Hi to beammeup, and a big warm welcome to the forum!

It's great to welcome another Scott Bonnar owner on board and like me, another Model 45 owner!!

Now to your machine, your model number says it is a 17" and of the same vintage as mine, that is a late Model 45 and
we can tell that by the front roller end caps and the plastic tops on the grass deflector screws. The thing that has me tossed, is the shorting strip on top of the Briggs to stop the engine...most machines from this era stopped the engine by pulling the speed control back to the stop position.
If you can please post the full string of numbers on the cowling of the Briggs, we will be able to tell you the year the engine was assembled...but unfortunately Scott Bonnar serial numbers do not reflect the month or year of manufacture, tho we can get close...
The paint colours on the machine are not original, but we may be able to point you in the right direction if you wish to restore to original condition.
Once again,

to OutdoorKing!
