Hi Tim, and welcome to Outdoorking. Glad you got your engine going again, but there must be a reason for the plastic timing gear breaking at such an early age. Whatever was wrong, may still be wrong (unless it was a quality defect in the gear). This isn't a serious problem, if you get 3 years out of each gear, but it is worth thinking about. If you like the engine (and I can understand why you do), you will probably want to find out more about its peculiarities as you go along.
