Cliff Ryan:- Did you end up sorting this problem out? I'm asking as I have the exact same problem. I think the mower may have been tipped on it's side before it was dropped off to me. If you did manage to find the problem, please shed somelight on it for me.
Moe TheLawn you could have dirt in the main jet which is located under the idle speed screw. Try taking it out by removing the screw and lever the black plastic (has two flat sides) out. Then give it a good clean out and see what happens.
