I got it to fit, but not on my old Rover 18" models. Instead it fit like a glove on the later model red 18-20" models with rear catcher. Not to worry I really needed one.

Turns out some blighter had at some time chopped off the top of the wire rod, probably in an attempt to make it fit something else. I have no way to weld anything at present, so I pushed some narrow copper pipe over it to form a sleeve and screwed a bolt into the top of that. Then I could keep adjusting it up and down until I got the right length for a snug fit.

First time I have ever come across one of these. A whacky design that works really well. Was it an original Rover patent or did someone at ByNorm HQ come up with this idea? Sad that ByNorm are not still making them. I could do with a couple more of them.
