I picked up an inverter generator on the curbside a couple weeks ago.
The other day, I tore it down, adjusted the valves (main problem) cleaned out carby, drained tank and did other general normal things (someone already put a new plug in for me so that’s a win).
It is a Viggen 2500w surge, 2200 continuous. Its code is VIG2500PIG (which gave me a laugh at least).
For all intents and purposes, it’s the same as a Gentrax GS-BECE.
It runs fine, but the idle speed was played around with by the previous owner (burred head). Does anyone know by any chance what the spec is?
I have an email into Gentrax, but no reply, and sent one to another seller so will see about idle speed hopefully.
My main query is a design flaw. The fuel line is about 40cm long overall, with a fuel pump and the carby mounted higher than the pump and tank. It takes 10 pulls to initially get the fuel through the pump and up to the carby.
No problem if you use it every week and store it wet, but I store everything dry (as it won’t be used regularly), so when I need to start it, I will be pulling the cord 10 times again to get fuel up to it.
My question is, would an outboard motor primer bulb work?
I am of the opinion it would, but should I mount it between the tank and pump or between the pump and carby.
I am hoping it will be the latter as it would be easier to access. I will be taking the side panel off (1 screw) to check oil level before each start anyway.
Although I can guarantee I will do all this, then the valve timing will slip and I will be buggered (its 125cc OHC with timing chain)
