Thanks Deejay. It's in very good condition. Just needs a few little things fixed. I've always been a Scott Bonnar man, so this is my first (running) Victa. I just couldn't pass it up. I think with a good clean up, it should come up ok. No need for a full resto.

Hi Matt, Deejay and ODK members,
I understand why this machine was too good to pass up. Like Deejay, I appreciate that restoration is a personal choice.
Matt, I am compelled to say that this is a good decision. This machine is in fine, original 1960s condition. There would be a clear and present danger to do anything but a sensitive restoration of the original patina. That's my view.
p.s. your photos have an impressive 'studio' and 'nostalgic' quality. Please take this post as part of the provenance of this vintage machine.
Congratulations mate!
All very collectable. --------------------------------------- JACK

Thanks Jack. It is in great original condition and only needs new wheel bearings and new o rings on the fuel tap. Most of these 60's mowers are hard to find in this condition. This one spent 25 years locked away in a garage so has had minimum use. Thanks for the feedback. Matt.

bunipper,
is that mower of yours a self propelled? as not many that I see, have the chrome cover under the starter handle, the only ones I have seen with the chrome cover have been self propelled, I'm not saying that is the case but that's just been my observation. If it is then that's a special find, well done, I would love a catcher for mine.
cheers.

Good eyes there jonesy that one with the chrome around starter and at the front of the cowl,is a Corvette.Whether the mower is a Corvette or a Cortina with a Corvette cowl I don't know, but yes you were right to ask,No Cortina had that cowl. That was the one difference between Cortina and Corvette, otherwise they were the same mower. Also the self propelled around the same time also had the same cowl,so you are correct there.
Here for a good time, not a long time.

there 2 models in my photos, the early one with the steel catcher, totally different mounting setup for the catcher and the newer one with the plastic catcher. its amazing how many changes were made between a short model run and when you get them next to each other you can see them
cheers

i agree, it wasn't till i got my 'green' Victa book did i realize how many versions there was of the early s/p. i got the book years after i got my first s/p mower, and i always thought the model after would have been quite different, but these ones all look the same till ,as you say, you put them together.
