Finished this yesterday , have been undecided for months now as to whether to leave as found or restore . Could not find much info on it , I have a similar frame which has Amplion on the height adjuster knob . Note the Bakelite wheels . If interested Here's the link You Tube / MegaAlwil to see a video of it running before stripping . ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2012/03/full-3886-5272-hurricane_mower_001_medium.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2012/03/full-3886-5273-hurricane____finished___1_3_2012_042_medium.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2012/03/full-3886-5274-hurricane____finished___1_3_2012_043_medium.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2012/03/full-3886-5275-hurricane____finished___1_3_2012_044_medium.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2012/03/full-3886-5276-hurricane____finished___1_3_2012_045_medium.jpg)

This mower is in fact an Amplion.Made by Amplion Aus,Im almost certain it was made in Sydney,Need to check my notes.(This mower is a near mirror to the Victa Fans which used the villiers engine)My meaning being they designed a mower and "borrowed a Trusted engine"just like so many others after. The Amplion used the bakelite wheels some were marked with the Amplion logo,Im pretty sure these was the later model,As I only know of 2.Also it used the Hurricane Brand 125cc engine, but ive heard they had another engine option. While very similar to the Hurricane (At first glance it can be confusing)the height adjust was different and as far as I know the Hurricane did not utilise the bakelite wheels. Please correct me if im wrong:)This is a excellent example before restoration,And a faultless After Resto.A beautiful example of one of my personal favourites. Thankyou Al for showing it:)

Hi Al, is the Amplion name on the height adjuster knob in the form of a logo? If so, I wonder if the original machine had a decal on the front ....I can't see any holes in the base for a nameplate.....

No, not like a logo , there was evidence only of EZI-CUT on the paintwork , I have viewed a similar model with better original paintwork and it was the same , have enquired through a few knowlegeable collectors and not much information at all is available . The wheels on mine are plain whereas the other one that I know of has Amplion on the wheels ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2012/03/full-3886-5290-_amplion_frame_2_001_medium.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2012/03/full-3886-5291-_amplion_frame_2_002_medium.jpg)

Hi Al,
Wow, this one came up beautiful! I've still got the video of it in original state i took during my visit if you want that too.
What did you do to get the wheels to come up so well, the Bakelite is looking amazing!
Cheers Ty

G'day Ty ,thanks for the comment . Used car polish , Auto Glym , same as I use on all the family cars , buy it bulk ,5 litres , a lot cheaper than the little jars .
As I was boring the holes for new bushes , I noticed that the base material was a very bright red so I went carefully , trying not to score the face of the wheels as if I did ,it would then take a lot of polish to get them dark again . Your video would probably be better than my leg shots . ( my first attempt at video )
Cheers Al
