I have a 1950 something 14 inch electric Bonmow. It's running but I need a chain for the drive as well as a chain guard for the drive chain to the cylinder. The grass catcher has seen better days. I'd be delighted to hear of any one with parts or a wreck.

Hi Padman, and a warm welcome to the OutdoorKing forum. It's great to welcome another Scott Bonnar owner aboard. grin
So that we may help you with you questions, could you please post a pic of your machine, form different angles, including one of the ID plate affixed to the mower, as of the sprockets the chain connects to....This lets us correctly identify the model and gives us an idea how to proceed.

I believe yours to be a Model 19, first introduced in 1953, finding a new or even a second-hand grass-box for it may prove a challenge...and spare parts maybe a bit thin on the ground... frown
But please post the pics and we'll see what we can do. wink
Once again, :welcome:
cheers2

Thanks for the welcome. I'm unable to upload pictures at the moment. It is definitely a Bonmow sometimes known as a Model 19. The serial number is BM0821* the * is an unclear numeral possible the bottom part of a 3 or an 8. The frame is iridescent blue which was the original colour although mine is some what faded. Does anyone know the official colour? It is powered by a 1/2 H.P. 4 pole (1425rpm) Crompton Parkinson single phase capacitor start electric motor. The drive to the cutter is by way of a chain not disimilar to a push bike chain on the left hand side of the machine. Drive to the rear roller is via a similar chain which is missing on my machine. The front roller is one piece metal probably from a Model 45. I think the original was a split wooden roller which I guess has disintegrated after close to 60 years! I would really like to contact other owners especially in South Australia!

Hi Padman, re the colour...unfortunately all corporate colour formulas for Scott Bonnar have gone into the ether...no records have survived that we are aware of. frown
Here's a pic of the Bonmow (petrol)...

An automotive paint supplier could match the colour for you; which in this case is "Cobalt Blue" in baked enamel (according to the description on this page of the advert (vertically) if you can read it) or find a sample on the machine that has been shaded and not faded in colour.
We have got other members on this forum with Bonmows, but not electrics as far as I know. wink
cheers2
