Saw this 12 inch two stroke mower at the NHMA Rally in WA on 2nd September. It has a TAS engine. Does anyone have more details on this small mower?

Hi ODK members,

I can date the machine to the mid 1960s.
I would love to know its history and origin. Is it an AUS machine?

All very interesting.

Hello ODK members,

I know this is an old post but I have found a curious link to a mower
with links back to 1948. I have dated the Mini-Master, though, to 1966-67.

When I looked at the photographs here and elsewhere I noticed the 'Reuleaux' triangle
dish in the pressed steel base. I recognised this feature from a late model Pye electric.

When I compared these machines it became clear that the Mini-Master has a reworked Pye base
(now with 4 wheels) and a petrol motor.

I speculate that the Mini-Master was made by Pye Industries, or that the machine was
made with some strong connection between Pye and the ultimate manufacturer.

The DNA goes back to the Tecnico electric of 1948. The British Pye Company bought
into Tecnico in the mid-1950s to become Pye-Tecnico. By the 1960s, with full control of Tecnico,
the company became simply Pye (you might remember their TV's).

Compare the machines below.

All very small pie.

Hmm, now that is interesting, I was not aware that Pye had ever released a lawnmower, although I do know the company.

You can see the similarities, right down to the height adjustment linkages. I would also be interested to ID the engine on that Minni-Master, as it might further help with this story.

I certainly agree with your assessment that these two have some very strong ties...

Cheers
Ty
