Hi Nathan, mate, it seems a complete (though not all original.....see the description) and in pretty good condition for its age..especially with a catcher....but the price....which is just the reserve...that is a lot of $$$..... It will be interesting to see the advice you get!

hey, nice condition for a victa self propelled , this chassis style used to chip and break easy , very good condition price is high but he is also including the G2 carby which are getting hard to find.

I have the motor off one of those here with the correct cowling, minus carby and exhaust, no way in the world would I shell out $500 for a complete one though.

As Joe has its a bit too pricey. That particular is one that Homer in Newcastle owns, he is know for high prices. They are getting harder to find but not worth that kind of money. I mean it maybe worth half that much but that is just too much. They are still around and missed out on one a few months back for $35 with an ambassador,I was just to slow on getting it.

I only got it this morning so put some fuel in it (seems there is a small leak in the tank) and checked for spark after a couple of tries to start it and had no spark, so I tilted it up to make sure the starter was actually turning the motor over and it wasent, so pulled the starter off and found a small spring near the pawles was not on properly, put it back together and it started second start, runs very well.

This is a bit of a tricky one, the serial puts it at 1970 from my understanding, now the designated run of the Model 568 or V68, was 68-69, and the next listed self propelled is the V98, running from 71-72.
Now it could be a mater of serial code change over, at this point there was still some slight, uncommon variance in serial layout, so it is possible the date is derived from the 9, however I hedge towards the 70 marking.
The other consideration is the fact that the V68 likely continued its production past its designated model run, which was common enough, in fact it likely ran till the 1971 release of the V98.
Further, the G3 was not really seen all that often till early 1970, there was some limited test releases of it in 69, but to my knowledge, these were limited mostly to the corvette, the 69 V68 would more likely be seen with a G2 or in some cases, a 3Q.
So based on these factors, I feel this machine most likely a 1970 V68 Victa Self Propelled, with an early G3 carburettor, and the basis of the Series 70 MKI engine (Impulse starter, G3 Carby, point Ign, no decompression) normally the S70 was coupled with the box type, under deck exhaust, but in its pre release, and side release variations, it was not always so.

Thanks Ty, I love the way the drive system works, it is engaged & drives all the time, the handle raises and lowers the rear wheels off & onto the drive wheels, all of this system seems to work properly too so I should just need some rubber rollers on the drive axel and a cable hooking up from the handle to the mech inside the left rear wheel  the cable mount to the side of the handle (the fixed position) looks very similar to the VC auto dirve, so mabee one of those cables would do if I could get one that is not cut or worn out? has anyone out there got a auto drive cable they could measure up and take some photos of so I could see if I'm barking up the right tree? mine measure 36mm centers where it bolts to the handle uprights.

I love them deep dished rear wheels with the fat rubber, sort of reminds me of the 265's mum had on her XC GS falcon way back when...

I have a feeling the only difference you will find particularly hard, if it cones up, is the bottom end of the cable, I'll check the book, see what it says about the cable ends and lengths.
The drive system is not dissimilar to a rover I once had, I'll see if I cant find the thread.
I know what you mean Joe, definitely one of my favourite styles of victa wheel.

All I want to know is what the hole spacings are on the mount where the cable meets the handle bars, 36mm centers or not???? I can work the rest out later.
