G'day all,
The IPL for this saw can be downloaded gratis from https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/u...name/canadien%20PM%20175%20270%20271.pdf

As far as the sprocket goes, it looks like GB Forestry here in Oz still list the 7 tooth .404 version under Stock Code CN580-B7N; http://www.gbforestry.com.au/store/...-spur-drive---7-tooth-404-pitch-2-detail
That took a fair bit of finding, as the saw make isn't listed on the index page!
GB Forestry are a wholesaler, so you'll need to order the part through one of their dealers.

The Canadiens were one of the better saws of their day, and were imported to Oz by Mobilco Ltd in the 1960s. Their agency ended in around 1969, when Skil Tools bought the chainsaw division of Power Machinery of Vancouver, BC.

Cheers,
Gadge

G'day David_M,
In all truth, I was a bit amazed that this part was still available here, for such an old saw!

My family had an Outdoor Power Equipment business in Northern Vic, that had a Mobilco dealership in the 1970s [until they closed down in 1976], and even then, the Canadien parts we could get were aftermarket gear like Tillotson carby parts, and bar/chain/sprocket stuff.

Cheers,
Gadge

G'day again David_M,

A couple of items that may be of interest to you;
A 1962 ad for that saw is on this page; https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/page/14635385

A 38 min 'timelapse' video of a rebuild/restore on one of these saws; he does make one avoidable error; in busting the carby/barrel insulator, but fortunately has the capability to reproduce that item;

BTW, be sure to put a dab of grease, or a couple of drops of engine oil, on the needle roller bearing inside the clutch/sprocket unit, when reassembling it.

Cheers,
Gadge

Leatherface seal of approval.

Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!
