Hi everyone I picked up 2 Villiers lightweight engines (horizontal shaft) that look almost identical except for some minor visual differences, can anyone shed some light on the 2 different model numbers are they the same engine but different years/series or is there a difference in specs such as bore and stroke. Trying to work out if ones better than the other as I I can make one complete engine out of the two, I know there was a 50cc, 75cc and 150cc how do you tell the difference?
I took the heads off today and measured the stroke and they both seem to have the same travel unless one piston is shorter than the other which I won't know untill I strip it right down. There seems to be different markings on the pistons heads as well as a concave dip in one of the pistons.
I haven't really got stuck In to them yet, there on the backburner at the moment untill I finish off my current restorations and the 101 million jobs I got to do around the house. Still none the wiser if there's a difference with the two models, they do look almost identicle except a few parts. I'm thinking of taking a break after I finish these last machines then maybe get stuck into the Villiers when I get bored.
