New poster to the forum - thanks for having me! I've recently had the fortune of happening upon an early Greenfield HD8 (piano hinge, slat grill) with its original, running Honda G40-D motor.
The old girl has been repainted at some point (I believe) and has had the following modifications by the original owner: - wheelbarrow wheels put on front to replace originals - B&S muffler attached - Air filter removed and lost. - kill switch relocated to panel next to throttle control (looks to be period correct though) - chain attached to stop bonnet from folding down too far.
Otherwise, all there & original. Doesn't look to have done much work to be honest! I've tracked an original air filter & muffler (with all its guards), and will just need to find some wheels at some point. Pretty jolly good for a machine from circa '67 (correct me if wrong on the year please!!)
The old girl will get a full resto over the coming year (or two), and I look forward to drawing on the knowledge of this group if you'll have me! I'm no stranger to old machinery - grew up on a farm and have a love for restoring passenger vehicles and Ag machinery (pre 1945 mainly) but now live in town and don't get home to the farm and all of the physically large projects.
Anyway, here are a few photos. Apologies for lack of serials / fine details - it's sitting at a family member's place waiting for me to get it into my workshop.
Thanks GML, I really appreciate it. That machine of yours is a work of art - It's a real credit to you! They're definitely siblings / twins - mine just won't have the duals on the back, and I'm unsure as to whether I'll find front wheels to replace the wheelbarrow jobs on the front. Hopefully one day!
