I have a problem with one of my Victa two stroke powertorque mowers with smokey exhaust filling the yard. When I tested another one with fuel from the same container, no such problem. It doesn't clear after warming up and I had to shut it down pretty quickly for fear of attracting complaints from the neighbours. What are the common causes? The smoke is blue as though the fuel is too rich, but the other unit is fine.
Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!

MF, it might have a bit of residual oil still inside the crankcase that may take some time to burn off?

Norm K I was pondering that earlier today. I'll give him a longer run tomorrow.

NormK all appears well after several minutes revving it at different levels and stopping and restarting it a few times. Lucky there was a strong breeze to carry the smoke away down the street. Exhaust is fine now. Thanks for the pointer.
PS: discovered another minor issue. As the engine winds down to a near stop, as you shut it down, the piston "bounces" and the flywheel feels like it goes the other way for aa split second before stopping completely. When I did it again, it winds down and stalls abruptly instead of spinning freely to a complete stop. Weird.
