I pulled apart a 240V Ozito mower, the older one you need a long cord to follow you around. The motor is good, green base and wheels Ok, but the bearing siezed and melted the white shaft frame....................... I'm not going to fix it. If anyone wants motor base or blade free,
Otherwise mptor goes to mates scrap metal bin.

Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!

Problem is people keep buying this rubbish and with 2400 people a week moving into places like Melbourne there is a never ending supply of people who have no idea how bad these things are and stores will keep selling them as long as people keep buying them. I just put the grinder through them, motor goes to the scrap bin, mower in 4 pieces goes in my household rubbish bin

Hello speedy, Norm and Nowerfreak

Brilliant video you found there Mowerfreak!
It is so creative, artistic and ... provocative.

The slow-mo shots are awesome.

There must be a certain situational irony in this ...
a mower devouring another mower - as you suggest
... a cannibalistic lawnmower?

Is it wrong to think that?

Yes you are wrong...in the sense that I was talking about using the Ozito itself to muck around with chopping up stuff, instead of using it as originally intended. Being electric, allows you to do as depicted in the video. That's the one thing it had going for it.

Has anybody had anything to do with the lithium iron cordless ones and if so how well do they perform?

I saw a U.S video promoting one and it claimed and appeared to be pretty good. At least you don't have a cord to run over. I doubt it will tackle foot long grass with quite the gusto of a Victa 2 stroke, but it seemed alright on a maintained lawn. This one had a big battery on it though. There is probably a proliferation of cheaper units in the marketplace that are not as good as that expensive looking machine was.

MF I have never seen a promo video ever claim anything but that the product is good. Maybe owners of these don't need to come here because they don't need to fix them.

They throw them out once something does go wrong, that's why! they are basically a bloated cordless drill on wheels!
I'd be really interested how the cordless LI ON battery powered chainsaws do. I think for backyard use, they would be fine, only thing is infrequent use is not good for the batteries. That's where an electric chainsaw is probably best.

G'day Norm
Yeah, I think we will be seeing more battery electric ride-ons in the near future.
In the professional mower sphere they are increasingly common.

I was surprised that General Electric offered a range of them in the USA
way back in 1972!

Can't believe it. I found a GE electric frypan on hard rubbish today. I have yet to test but it's in great shape and doesn't look like it's been used much, if at all.
